From Japan and Korea which sit at the forefront of technological development, through the regional powerhouses China and India, to Vietnam and Indonesia where young populations are embarking on their own journeys towards economic prosperity; the region is a melting pot of cultures and countries at varying stages of economic development.

Economic growth across Asia Pacific continues to outpace the other major regions and by 2030 Asia Pacific is expected to account for almost 50% of global GDP. Despite this, the region remains significantly under-represented in both global indices and investment portfolios.

At the micro level, Asia Pacific is home to an array of dynamic businesses led by well-educated and innovative management teams.

Corporate balance sheets are well capitalised which allows management to reinvest to support growth, but valuations remain attractive relative to those in other regions.

Indeed, despite attractive economic fundamentals, investment coverage and activity across Asia Pacific remain low in a global context, facilitating larger divergences between market and fundamental performance for patient investors such as Masou to exploit.
